Opportunity to develop your Accounting skills by supporting the Herc Rentals Accounting team as we work to establish best practices and improve our internal control environment. Participate in the accounting close cycle by assisting in the preparation of accruals, process refinement, control documentation, system implementations, and other important accounting tasks.
Learn about the company’s accounting cycle, including Balance Sheet account reconciliations, various journal entries, internal controls, flux analysis.
Prepares monthly journal entries
Prepares internal and external reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments/other systems
Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information
Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts
Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
Understands and maintains Sarbanes Oxley Compliance
Understands finance systems and reporting requirements
Project work as assigned
Currently enrolled in an Accounting major with a minimum GPA of 2.5/3.0 in major
Completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in major coursework covering two or more of Accounting or Finance
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work in a team or cross functional team environment
Attention to detail
Basic understanding of three financial statements: P/L, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Possess strong MS Office skills
Possess training and/or experience with Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
